Isabel Blakewell, soprano, praised in the Iowa Globe Gazette as “A rare, great surprise”, is a Minnesota native and is becoming known for her captivating performances. Isabel recently showcased her artistic ability in the title role of Suor Angelica and La Contessa in Le nozze di Figaro at Wichita State University.
Past engagements showed her versatility in various roles including Una Novizia in Suor Angelica, Buttercup in H.M.S. Pinafore, Nicklausse in highlights of Les contes d' Hoffmann, and Prince Orlofsky in Act II of Die Fledermaus. She performed in the chorus of Cavalleria Rusticana with the Lyric Opera of the North and she was also a featured soloist with the University of Minnesota Duluth Wind Ensemble and the University of Minnesota Duluth University Singers.
Ms. Blakewell, in the 2022-2023 season, was selected to be the soprano section leader in the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra Chorus. She was named a Winner at the 2023 North Central Regional NATS voice competition and a semi-finalist in the 2022 Minnesota NATS voice competition. She is also a recipient of the UMD Bakke Scholarship, the Gershgol Scholarship, the Ehlers Music Scholarship, and the 2023 Matinee Musical Scholarship.
Isabel is currently pursuing her Master of Music in Opera Performance at Wichita State University where she studies with Dr. Cristina Castaldi. In 2023, she received a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Minnesota Duluth.

When not in rehearsal Isabel loves to check out local coffee shops and find cool mom-and-pop shops.
